When it comes to families, I have a casual, more documentary style of photography. While I always make sure to capture some posed smiling faces, I really enjoy capturing the special in-between moments between family members, which are most likely the expressions that you see most in one another every day. My goal is to make your session a fun and positive experience for everyone so that I can create precious memories that you will cherish for decades to come. We offer family photography sessions at several beach and field locations throughout Orange County. We recommend scheduling at least 4 weeks in advance.
Family Session FAQ
What should we wear for our family session?
In Southern California we can photograph your family outdoors any time of year. Our busy season is September - November when many families are photographed for the holidays (we recommend booking several weeks/months in advance for Fall sessions). Spring is also a wonderful time to photograph your family outdoors when we have our spring bloom. Outdoor family sessions typically are in the early evening during golden hour but can also be scheduled for early morning if that works better for your family.
Family sessions in studio can be photographed all year long at any time of day that suits your schedule.
What is the best time of year for a family photo session?
PLEASE don't worry about your kids "behaving" for the photo shoot. We LOVE kids of all ages and my favorite thing is to capture your family how you really are. I have photographed thousands of families and I ALWAYS get beautiful and unique images of each family. I take care to make the session fun for everyone and do my best to be efficient and quick so that we aren't spending longer than needed at your session.
Where do family sessions take place?
Yes please! Furry friends are part of the family and should be included in your family session. We would like to discuss the options with you prior to your session, as some locations do not allow dogs and we like to make sure your dog is the right temperament for a photo session.
Can extended family members be included?
I recommend natural muted tones for your family session. This palette compliments our natural surroundings and photographs skin tones beautifully. Once you have booked your session we will send you our Session Planning and Wardrobe guide to help you choose your wardrobe. We can also schedule a pre-consultation meeting with Jenny to plan your session and wardrobe.
Can we bring our dog?
Yes of course! The more the merrier! I love to photograph the entire family and has several favorite locations that work well for this type of session. Please reach out to us by email or text and we can go over extended family session options with you.

Outdoor family sessions take place at one of our gorgeous Orange County beaches, regional parks, fields or urban locations. I have so many favorites to choose from! I also photograph families in our beautiful studio in Aliso Viejo.
