Newborn FAQ

What should we wear for our newborn session?

If you are looking to capture those sweet newborn sleepy, curled up images, you should plan to have your newborn session within the first couple weeks of life. Our favorite age is between 10-14 days, but we photograph newborns at 3-4 weeks of age and are still able to capture their newness. Whatever age you choose to photograph your baby will result in beautiful images capturing the uniqueness of your newborn bundle of joy.

What is the best age for a newborn session?

We love to include parents and siblings during newborn sessions. It is a special and fleeting time for your whole family that should be remembered with all family members. Don't worry, we are experts at wrangling toddlers and love to capture their sweet interactions with their new sibling.

How long is a newborn session?

This is probably the biggest concern for new moms and we promise you do not need to worry at all about getting your baby to sleep! We are professionals and have photographed thousands of newborn sessions. We have many tricks up our sleeve to get baby to sleep. In the rare case that they will not sleep we will photograph them awake and get beautiful images of your baby.

What do I need to bring for baby to wear?

Jenny's style is classic, timeless and fresh. We recommend soft muted neutral tones in studio. These tones photograph best in our white studio. We have dresses available that are perfect and chosen specifically for postpartum mamas. Upon booking your session we will send you a wardrobe guide and you can book a pre-consultation call to go over wardrobe and styling ideas your session.

What if my newborn won't sleep?

Really not much! Newborns photograph best wrapped and with no clothing at all. We have all the wraps, headbands, hats, etc at the studio. They are carefully curated to photograph well and match Jenny's classic and timeless style.

Newborn session clients are typically at the studio for approximately 2 hours. This includes time to feed baby upon arrival and breaks for snuggles and feedings during the session.

Can parents and siblings join in the session?
